Proceeds Help Benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cumberland & Salem Counties
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cumberland & Salem Counties (BBBS) is proud to support the 13th Annual Run for Aaron which is scheduled for April 6, 2019 beginning at 10:00 am. The 5K run and 1-mile walk will kick-off at the Saint Padre Pio Parish located at 4680 Dante Avenue in Vineland. Participants should arrive on-site to check in at 9:00 am. Proceeds from the event will benefit The Aaron Ploch Memorial Scholarship Fund and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cumberland & Salem Counties.
The Aaron Ploch Memorial Scholarship Fund was founded in 1999 in memory of Aaron who passed away suddenly at the age of 10 after a week-long illness. He was an excellent student and athlete, loved by his teachers, coaches, and everyone that met him. The Fund was established to honor Aaron’s love of sports and his devotion to his family and friends. Scholarships are awarded annually to deserving Vineland area students. Since 2011, BBBS has also been designated as a recipient of a portion of the proceeds. In 2018, the Run for Aaron was able to donate $7,500 to BBBS, and since 2011 the total is $65,000.
“We are truly honored to be associated with this wonderful event,” said Donna Bennett, BBBS Cumberland/Salem President and CEO. “We enthusiastically encourage all of our friends and supporters to help in any way you can as a sponsor, walker, runner, volunteer, or sideline cheerleader. The course is a fun and relaxed trip through beautiful rural farmland landscapes, and additionally it is a USATF certified event.”
The registration fee for the event is $20.00 for the 5K run, and $15.00 for the 1-mile walk. Registration ends on Thursday, April 4 at 10:00 pm. The run and walk will take place rain or shine.
