“The only girl and second youngest of six, I was privileged to have been raised in a family with deep roots in faith and Christian values. Having been part of ministry in some capacity most of my life, serving the needs of others was one of the many rewarding experiences I was able to learn at an early age. Fast forward into adulthood, as pastors and parents with our own growing children, becoming involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) was another way my husband and I decided we could give back to the community. While somewhat aware of the importance of at-risk youth programs, becoming involved with BBBS gave us an even greater sense of the relevance and the need for the unique one-to-one mentoring programs BBBS provides. In today’s society, a growing number of children are raised either by a single parent or some other extended family member. Without the professional support and guidance of organizations like BBBS, these families would be without hope. I am honored to be part of an organization with more than a Century-old reputation for outstanding service and commitment to providing excellent programs and operations. To me, Big Brothers Big Sisters represents the hallmark of non-profit children’s charities. And that is why I am connected with what I consider to be such an outstanding organization.”
