Kelly Winters was chosen as Big Sister of the year for 2019. Kelly has been a part of the organization since 2004 when she became an intern at the agency. She eventually became a caseworker at the agency but wanted to do more to help the children in the community. She first became a Big Sister in 2005, again in 2010. She has been matched to her current Little Sister, Kaylee since June 15, 2016.
Kelly and Kaylee have a very special relationship. Kaylee was living with her grandmother at the time of the match. Kaylee’s grandmother was in poor health and neither of Kaylee’s parents was in her life at the time. Kaylee’s grandmother realized that she needed a role model and someone other than her grandmother to share her thoughts and feelings. . They have such a great time together and have attended many Big Brothers Big Sisters events and activities. Kaylee is gaining the confidence to try new things and she is realizing her potential.
Kelly is not only a fantastic Big Sister, but she consistently helps the agency in other ways. She has helped with agency fundraisers such as the Big Night Silent and Live Auction and the Annual Rise and Shine Breakfast. She is also a multi-year donor. She has been a Big Sister and strong advocate of Big Brothers Big Sisters since 2005 and continues to provide services to Big Brothers Big Sisters in any way that will meet the needs of the children in our community. We feel that Kelly is very deserving of the nomination of Big Sister of the Year. She has proven her dedication to the mission and vision of Big Brothers Big Sisters through one-to-one mentoring for the past 14 years. She has shown ongoing initiative and dedication to Big Brothers Big Sisters through her work on numerous committees and fundraising efforts. She is supportive of the agencies activities and gives time, energy and commitment as proof of dedication to the agency’s goals. We are very proud and consider it an extreme honor to nominate Kelly Winters as Big Sister of the Year for Cumberland and Salem Counties.
