Marine Mammal Stranding Museum

The Marine Mammal Stranding Center (MMSC) is a private non-profit organization based in Brigantine, New Jersey. Since the Center’s founding in 1978, staff and volunteers have responded to over 3610 calls for stranded whales, dolphins, seals and sea turtles that washed ashore on New Jersey beaches. Whenever possible, the animals are brought back to the MMSC for rehabilitation and eventual release. Rehabilitation can last up to several months and cost thousands of dollars for a single animal.
Leamings Run Gardens
Admission: $8 adults, $4 children ages 7 – 14 years, children 6 and under are free
Hours: 9:30am – 5:00 pm daily May 15 through October 10
Location: 1845 Route 9 North, Cape May Court House, NJ
Leaming’s Run Gardens and Colonial Farm opened to the public in 1978. It is a favorite place to relax and enjoy lush gardens in harmony with the natural beauty surrounding them. It’s an outdoor classroom for children to learn about plants and wildlife. It is also a living history museum, a historic site that offers glimpses into a long, rich history with colonial origins. Cape May Zoo
Admission: Free. Donations accepted.
Hours: Summer Zoo Hours 10:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Winter Zoo Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
Location:
No food is allowed in the zoo; however there is a snack bar and picnic area in the adjacent park.
Be sure to bring a few quarters to buy food for the petting zoo animals.
Cohanzick Zoo (Bridgeton)
Admission: Free. Donations accepted
Hours: The zoo is open daily 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (winter)
9:00 AM to 5 PM (summer).
Location: Bridgeton, Cumberland County. Bridgeton on Route 49, turn North onto Atlantic St. Go one block to the traffic light (Commerce St). The Park entrance is directly ahead across Commerce St. where Atlantic St. becomes Mayor Aitken Dr.
