On February 27th, Carol D’Orio Director of Adult School Based Mentoring retired from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cumberland & Salem Counties. Carol began working for Big Brothers Big Sisters in 2003. As the Director of Adult School-Based Mentoring, Carol recruited elementary and middle school students as ‘littles’ and recruited adults throughout the community to volunteer as ‘bigs’. Carol provided professional case management and supervision to all Adult School Based and School Based Plus one-to-one mentoring relationships.
Prior to joining Big Brothers Big Sisters, Carol was the Office Manager/Co-owner of Micro Reproduction in Vineland. Carol attended Glassboro State College and graduated from Rider College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing.
In her retirement Carol hopes to catch up on her “to do” list. She plans to enjoy her garden, read, and spend lots of time with her family especially her four granddaughters. Carol will remain involved in her community and church. She says she will most likely show up at Big Brothers Big Sisters functions.
Carol said “I will find it difficult to walk away from all the wonderful people I met and worked with as part of Big Brothers Big Sisters.” We will all miss her; miss her professionalism, her calm demeanor and cheerful smile.
