Mentee Enrollment

Thank you for your interest in enrolling your child in Big Brother Big Sisters! We have several mentoring programs available in Cumberland & Salem Counties.

Mentoring Programs

  • Community Based Mentoring (one-to-one with an adult, traditional model)
  • Site Based Mentoring (one-to-one with an adult, during lunch at school or other setting)
  • Peer-to-Peer Mentoring Site-Based (one-to-one, before or after school with an older student in a supervised setting)
  • Mentor2.0 (high school student mentees:  one-to-one; email and virtual communication and monthly in-person meetings with an adult professional)

Eligibility

Youth ages 7-12 at the time of application who live in Cumberland or Salem Counties are eligible for Community Based Mentoring. Youth enrolled in one of our partner school/site based locations (listed below) may also be eligible for Site Based Mentoring without age restriction.  The youth must be appropriate for volunteer intervention (as determined by enrollment staff) and family should have a permanent/long-term living situation and reliable communication with BBBS and the mentor.

Enrollment Process

  • Parent/custodial adult will complete a Youth Application.
  • Parent/custodial adult will review enrollment and orientation information with BBBS staff. Parent and youth will schedule an interview with Big Brothers Big Sisters staff (in the home or BBBS office, virtual options available). Please plan for about 1 ½ hours.
  • Parents must complete Your Child’s Guide to Personal Safety Training online or with BBBS staff.
  • Youth will be ready to be matched and notified when an appropriate volunteer becomes available. BBBS staff will introduce the Big, Little and parent at the time of the match.
