Yeila Rivera Joins Team As New Program Manager

Vineland, NJ – November 14, 2022: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cumberland & Salem Counties (BBBS) welcomes Yeila Rivera. As a former Big Sister, Yeila understands the importance and function of our high school mentoring program in the community and is passionate about enriching students’ lives as they make important decisions about their future.

Yeila is proud to be a first-generation college graduate. She was born in Puerto Rico but grew up here in Vineland, NJ, and completed her social work degree, graduating with distinction, at Georgian Court University in May of 2022. She understands firsthand the value of committing to the pursuit of education amid cultural differences and language barriers. Yeila shared, “I believe in the importance of the mission and vision of BBBS and am delighted to apply my knowledge and commitment to the program.”

Yeila knows that community involvement and serving others help individuals grow. In college, she was an active member of the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) program, Social Work Club, Phi Alpha Social Work Honor Society, and Chi Alpha Epsilon Honor Society. As program manager for the BBBS High School Mentoring, Yeila will invest in the program and the students who volunteer. The High School Mentoring program allows high school students to volunteer their time mentoring younger children. In serving others these mentors will see the difference they can make in someone else’s life while strengthening their own critical thinking and listening skills.
